You know that Vista is or should I go to Linux

You know that Vista isn't ready for prime time when you can run 5384
on a machine and then install 5536 on that same machine as either
upgrade or full install and fine that 5536 won't install properly.

Vista loads and reboots and dies just after the first progress bar
starts.
Loops backs and tries again.

Safe mode won't work since Windows wasn't loaded properly.

Taking a swim with cement shoes on is an experience too, but I wouldn't
recommend it.

Linux is too comlicated. The licensing for developers using the provided
libraries that often come with distros precludes any hope of profit. The
user interfaces are crummy. Most of the security is by "obscurity" rather
than from steel hardening by the heat of real attacks on a wide scale. I
could go on about Linux all day, but the steaming pile of cr*p that is Linux
is not worth it.

By all means try Linux, but its not user friendly at all. Be prepared to
sign up very quickly to the linux help newsgroups as you tear your hair out
in despair ;-)

If you are set up so that you could install Linux and give it a try without loosing any of your important data, then give it a try. You can, if you do not like it, reformat your hard drive and install Windows.

Had a similar problem with my Beta 2 install, Windows wouldn't start
properly. However a re-install did the trick, don't know what went
wrong, maybe a file became corrupted when copied from the disc.

I have tried several distributions.

Half the time they work and half they don't.

Liitle things like update doesn't work.

I am trying for the 3rd time to install Vista. I do support for a
living.
If I can't get this work now, I can't think what will happen when
Vista is released.

Sometimes it's BIOS settings. I just installed an OS late last week and
couldn't get it to install until I disabled the mobo's onboard virus
detection. BIOS updates, adjusting BIOS settings etc. has often made the
difference for me.

I just installed Vista yesterday and it went on like a charm.

Running both Linux and Windows sucks. Your emails get everywhere and things
just aren't co-ordinated. I don't dual boot except perhaps on a test machine
for checking websites I work on.

Pick an OS you like and go with it! Right now I use Windows Server 2003 [as
a workstation] and really enjoy it. I don't dual boot it with anything,
there's no point, and I don't want to. I don't recommend dual booting except
for test machines.

(I don't use the third party stuff. from that site)(BTW I use Server 'cause
it runs so well and the code's so good)

The installation problem is the Vista didn't install properly.

Error message on the third install
"Windows didn't not shut down successfully".

I have no clue how to resolve this, do you? The only thing that I can
think of is video driver. Video drive is Geforce 4, MX 400. Nvida
driver.

When I use the boot manager and do into safe mode, I get the following
error message.
'Windows cannot complete installation in safe mode. To continue
installing Windows, restart the computer.

Thus the loop continues. never to be resolved.

"Tennis anyone"
