You guys don't have a clue what the basic user wants.

Please do some testing. Check what the average user wants. I simply wanted
to add names from a received e-mail to my address book. And please don't
tell me I need training. It's not even offered in the "help" menu. That's
the same philosophy that led GM down it's rosy path. Or is it a thorny path?
The customer is always wrong. I can't wait until a big company like IBM,
HP, or some other biggy offers an alternative to MS products. Who am I to
say this? A 51 year old white republican who loves it when a company slashes
its way to super profits....as long as it has a great product.
You...don't...test.

Actually they test constantly. They even have a sophisticated usability
lab where they closely observe the way users interact with their
applications. I've seen it - it's impressive. They also have, in the
Office 2003 suite, a voluntary Customer Feedback utility that gives them
regular feedback on how users work with their products (at least for those
users who enable the optional feature; it's opt-in).

Check Help | Customer Feedback options in any Office 2003 application for
more information.

Can you be a little more specific about what you were trying to do? First
of all what version of Outlook are you using? Where in the received
e-mail were these names you wanted to add? (i.e. From field? Subject?
Body?) What steps did you try in order to accomplish what you wanted to
do?

Right-click the name and choose "Add to Contacts". Sheesh!

If you'd bothered to actually look in "Help", you would've found the answer.
Search for "add name" - it's the third item in the results.
