You CAN create shortcut menus with Access 2007

Microsoft has posted this
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb177313.aspx

The good news is that I tried it and it works!
The bad news is that it is macro controlled. It took me one macro to add all
the menu names, and then an additional macro to carry out all the actions
for *each* of those menus. It appears that you can use macro groups for
the first macro above, but not to overcome the requirement for 1 macro per
menu.

I have worked with Access since version 2, but have never done anything with
macros other than to call a startup function with the autoexec macro. So
all this is new to me. I find it very confusing when the documentation
talks about macro names. Sometimes macro names appear in the navigation pane
but other times are contained within another macro, so that's frustrating.

The Help in Access for 'DoCmd.AddMenu' implies that you can interact with
the menus via VBA, but I got nowhere with that.

It's a start.

I wouldn't waste time with macro driven menus.
In Access 2007 you can either import menu bars from mdbs created in former
versions oder - better - build them from scratch in vba procedures.

My attitude: The more you use macros the more will microsoft find them
important. Macros for me are the wrong direction.

Sascha, I agree 100%. When I upgraded to 2007, I was unaware that I had
painted myself into a corner with my shortcut menus. They converted fine,
but there was no way to edit them or create new ones until I found this MS
site article. If you know of a way to create/edit *shortcut* (right-click)
menus in A2007 without using macros, please share that resource with us.
