ye olde geode audio problem

I saw this problem in many posts but they were always left off without a full solution, so anyone who had success in activating audio on the Geode SC2200 or a relative..

I used both the www.xpefiles.com version, and my own componentized one (each in its turn of course...)
On the second boot (right after FBA) the driver has a yellow [!] in device manager
After a reboot the [!] disappears, but "Sounds and Audio devices" doesn't show it as a playback device to be chosen

how did you get it to work

OK
my quick fix was to include "Kernel Audio Support" and "Legacy and Plug and Play Audio Support" and to let in all of their dependencies except the soft synths. Still, I need to reboot again, "Sounds and Audio devices" takes to long to open, and inside of it, no MIDI device can be chosen

do I need to tell the OS that this device is the default playback device? how do I do that

thanks

Idan,

Make sure you have "Primitive:WDMAUD.drv, Primitive:Stream.sys,
Primitive:ks.inf, and Primitive:ks.sys" If you can't see these components
lower your visibility to 100 in Tools>Options>Advanced>Component Visibility.

thanks, but these (and more) were already a dependency of the driver component itself.

Idan,

Are we working with an image that the devices list was genereated from PE,
or XP Pro, or Win2K? I've seen problems with the Geode Audio when things
like "Microsoft Kernel Audio Splitter", and "Microsoft Kernel Acoustic Echo
Canceller" aren't in the image. I work with the Geode audio quite a bit, and
as long as all the software devices are included there are no problems.
