Geode video problem

I have a geode GX1 w/ CS5530A companion. I upgraded my configuration to
support SP2, but now I get a scrambled screen whenever I try to shutdown the
unit. I get through the shutdown dialog screen (which displays the following
messages in sequence, "logging off", "saving settings", and then "shutting
down"), but shortly after I get this scrambled screen. I tried to upgrade to
the newest geode drivers for XP/XPE (v.2.01.08), but this results in an even
worse problem in which the start up screen is all scrambled and the system
halts at startup. Has anyone seen a similar problem, or have any ideas on
whats going on here?

Himanshu,

I have seen all these problems before. I was using SP1 when i had these
problems. I was using an Award BIOS and when the unit went to shut down the
screen would "tear". The new driver version 2.01.08 would crash my system as
well. The way i solved the problem was switching from my Phoeinx Award BIOS
to an Insyde XpressRom BIOS. The amount of meory I had to use increased but
it solved this problem. I do not believe the new driver worked for me with
XpressRom BIOS either.

Thanks for the input cal, I had heard somewhere else also that the Insyde
BIOS doesn't exhibit this problem. I resolved my problem by enabling
"Advanced Power Management Support" through the Power Options icon. It looks
like enabling this lets my existing BIOS decide when it is appropriate to
turn off the monitor.
