yahoo messenger installation

When I try to install yahoo messenger I get a message that I do not have
access to make the required modifications, and to rerun the installation
from an admisistrators account? Can anyone help me to understand this??

do you have administrator rights on the computer?

You must be logged on as an administator. If you aren't, but you know the
username and password to an admin account, then go to the installer, right
click on it, and select "run as...". Then type in the corresponding
information and try again...

I must have...it is my computer...and I am the only one that uses it.
Where and how would I find out???? Thanks!
