Yahoo games display problems.

Hi, i really hope someone can help with this as i've looked all over the web
for days trying to fix this but have found nothing.
I recently built this pc and have got xp sp2 installed and the sun java
1.5.0_02-b09 plug in installed. I've been trying to play yahoo chess and
yahoo poker and while both applets load, the displays in the game rooms
themselves are a bit weird.
In the chess one the text size about the game rules ie. how many minutes it
is, if it's rated/unrated is so small it's almost unreadable, while in the
poker room the display of the poker table is so big there's no dialogue bar
at the bottom of the screen.
Can anyone help? I would be very happy if you could!
Feel free to post back if you can or email me at (e-mail address removed)

Just to add, I have had problems in general with yahoo java applets,
specialyy the chat aplet. I have windows xp sp2 and sun java 1.5.0. I've done
1000 thing to solve it and nothing. There must be something that does not fit
with the new windows features.

Hi, i had the same problem and tried everything to solve it but no answer. I
even asked Yahoo but a three year old would have given me a better answer. I
just had to re install my pc to its factory settings due to an Adware that
even Skybot could not get rid of and even though the auto installs installed
XP2, the text on Yahoo games are now ok. I never updated Java this time, i am
just using the Microsoft original Java version. I did try before to uninstall
updated versions of Java when i had the problem but they did not work but for
some reason, this worked..........

Thanks for the reply badger, in the end i decided to try the microsoft vm and
for some reason yahoo now works perfectly - just as well as i wasn't very
confident in re-installing xp without losing all my files.
What i did was 1) Downloaded microsoft vm from here:
http://hp.vector.co.jp/authors/VA012735/vm_en.html
2) Installed then rebooted.
3) Automatic updates instantly downloaded the security update for vm (saved
me looking for it myself).

After visiting yahoo games a couple of times i've worked out you need to
have your sun java plugin disabled in your advanced options while enabling
"Java console enabled" and "JIT compiler" in the Microsoft VM menu (just
under your java menu in advanced options). After doing this you will be asked
to install the yahoo program of whatever game it is when you next enter a
yahoo game room (in my case chess and poker) and once this is done it works
perfectly. Remember though you have to enable sun java again for general
websites (esp. hotmail, this appeared very weird without sun java) in the
tools menu but you don't have to reboot again after doing this, just refresh,
that worked for me.
Jorge this should work for you too, please let me know. :)

Ernold.
