XYplorer - grab LFW quick

The mail you DON'T want to get. Hopefully the current version is not time-
bombed to expire on 21-Mar-06.

From 21-March-2006 XYplorer will be distributed under a new license policy.
The days of "Free For Non-Commercial Use" are over. Unless you register and
unlock the trial version, there will be a fair amount of good old
nagging/crippling.
Also registration cost will rise to ?29.95 ($36) per copy.

*shrug*...If this is what is going to happen, it won't affect me much.
It is already as good or better than most file managers, and I am hard
pressed to imagine what he might add to make me cry that I can't afford
$36 for a few more bells & whistles.
I must have 8-10 programs, from Power Archiver to Kerio to various
media players that still work fine after the 'latest' versions went
sharware.
I guess it's natural for a programmer to want more than a few
sporadic donations for all his hard work, but I do 'wish' they were more
upfront about their plans and intentions.
......and I do remember a number of cases where after a couple of years
of trying to sell the product, it suddenly reverts to 'free' again due
to competition...and to too many people like nm being perfectly pleased
with the older one.

(Oh, in cases like this, I ALWAYS rename the download and install it to
a different folder...just in case. You never know when you'll prefer 2
versions ago)

NOTE: on older, pre-XP systems, you might need the GdiPlus.dll [free]:

Yikes. Microsoft really makes you go through hoops to get the gdiplus
file. I think I'll pass. :(

Do a search of your hard drive. A lot of installation routines
automatically add gdiplus to their own directory. I have 8 various
gdiplus.dll files scattered around a WinME system. If you locate the file
simply copy it to the XYplorer folder. Unfortunately, it seems gdiplus
needs to be located in each programs folder rather than a system folder
on pre-XP systems.

Plans and intentions... well, my plan and intention was to keep it "Free for
non-commercial use" which it was for the last 2.5 years. Believe me, I
wished it would work, but it does not. I had to adapt, that's all.

On my system I put it in the Windows\System directory and it works
fine. I used a file from one of the games on my drives.
