xpsp2 install

I am going to install sp2 but have a ? I've read on the Dell website that I
should update my BIOS before I install sp2, is this true? I am running XP
Pro on a laptop. I've heard that updating the BIOS can sometimes cause
problems. Pleas let me know what would be best for a Clean Install.

1. BIOS flash - if it's a Dell notebook, check with Dell
2. XP clean install notebook

If Dell says you should update the BIOS before installing SP-2, that is what
you should do.
Updating a BIOS can in very rare cases cause problems.
Update ONLY when you are assured of sufficient uninterrupted time, usually
only a few minutes but plan for 30.
If practical have the computer connected to a UPS just in case of power
failure during BIOS update.
