xpP and xpH networking problems - HELP!

I have been trying to resolve this issue:
xp pro and xpH
i have set everyting up for a workgroup (i think)
i can access the shared folder from xph to xpp but i
cannot access the xph from xpp
i believe xpp is set to simple file sharing
when i do a cmd>net view from the xpp i can see the
shared folders on the xpH. however, when i go into
network places in xpp, and click on workgroups, nothing
happens. there are no instances of workgroups in
my "entire network" there is only "microsoft terminal
client" and "web client network" visible

I can also ping the xpH machine from my xpP.

I have made sure that netBios is enabled and common
computer brower is "started"

someone mentioned to check if my client for MS networking
was installed. how do i check this? i have checked the
properties for the LAN connection and the "Client for
Microsoft Networks" appears in the General properties.

can ping xpp from xph by ip and name? what do you get if using net view
\\xpp from xph?

when i do a net view from the xpH i can also see both
machines.

and i can successfully ping by ip and name.
