Hi

How do I set Xplorer2 to open all folders
What I mean is that when I click a folder on the desktop or the
recycle bin Explorer fires up NOT Xplorer

I see Xplorer in the right-click menu, but that's an extra step
All I want to do is double-click and Xplorer opens the folder

Associate it with "File Folder"...

Start
Settings
Folder options
File types

If you want to open non-physical "folders" (like My Documents) with it,
do the same for "Folders".

from their FAQ <http://www.netez.com/xplorer2/x2faq.htm> -

C1. How can I make xplorer² the default application for all my
folders?

This is not recommended since you'll run into problems with virtual
folders. What you can do instead is add a new verb for the Directory
"file type" and associate that with xplorer². See registry.txt for
more details.

Associate it with "File Folder"...

Start
Settings
Folder options
File types

I'm sorry, I don't see these options anywhere
Can u help more please?

that needs to be:

Start
Settings
CONTROL PANEL
Folder options
File types

between Settings and Folder options should be Control
panel.......(this is in your Start Menu, not in Xplorer 2)

Those are the steps in Win98 to reach "File Types"; if you are using XP
they will be similar but I can't tell you exactly as I don't use it.
Try a search in Windows Help for "file type" in necessary.

This is explained in xplorer2's file, registry.txt, but not super clearly.
Open the registry with regedit, and find the key:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell

Alongside it on the left it will the registry will say something like,

Default No Value Set

Double click on either of these, and a popup screen appears, allowing you
to set the default value. In place of ``No Value Set'' enter,

open_x2

That will do it. Note however, xplorer will still not be launched when
you doubleclick ``My Computer'' or one of your drives like ``C:''.

Should work, but I tried this in win98 and got unexpected consequences,
as I did when the default of ``drive'' and ``My Computer'' to xplorer2.

The method I described does work, and does not create unanticipated
complications.

For the faint at heart, and those that feel better with simple solutions:
Go to the ``Sendto''' directory, that is, C:\windows\Sendto. Insert a
shortcut for xplorer2 into this directory. That's it!

Now if you write click on any file or directory, whose context menu
includes, Send To --- just choose this, and xplorer2 will open to that
directory, or the directory containing that file.

This has the advantage that it also works in programs like, locate32
that list paths of filenames. And you need not mess with the registry
or file type associations.
