I am helping someone currently running XP Home Edition and they want to
upgrade to SP2. They are on a dial-up connection so I downloaded the
"network install" SP2 upgrade package to a CD and would like to upgrade their
PC from that. Is that a viable option? They aren't on a Network, which is
the intent of that download package, but will it work for installing it on a
single PC like this?

Thanks.

Hi

Yes, you can install that 'Network' file to upgrade the system to SP2.

Forgot one thing - you will have to go to Windows/Microsoft Update to
download/install the latest Security Hotfixes after upgrading to SP2.

Thanks for both posts back. I figured I would have to get the latest patches
after installing SP2, but being able to run the SP2 update from the CD would
be LOTS faster than a dial-up download!
