I Have Two Problems: 1. I Keep Getting "Error In Receiving Fax" When someone Is Sending Me A Fax. 2. I Have My Fax Set Up To Answer After 3 Rings And My Answering Machine After 4 Rings. When Someone Calls Me On The Phone The Fax Is Answering Giving The Person Calling A Good "SCREECH" In The Ear. Thanks

I don't understand the question.
You told fax to answer after three rings.
It does.
When you tell fax to answer, it will. Incoming call are incoming calls.
There is no way to distinguish a fax call from a voice call. Perhaps you
thought there was.

Russ,
If I understand your response correctly, XP fax software canno
distinguish a fax call from a voice call. Can we only use the progra
in the manual mode if we are expecting a fax and near the computer t
recieve the fax? Also can we only use the automatic mode when we hav
a dedicated phone line? Is there anyway, any patches to allow th
software to distinguish a fax call from a voice call?

Distinctive Ring is not supported by Windows XP. Therefore, Windows XP Fax
will answer every incoming call it receives. The alternative is to install
an external switching device to your phone line. You can find some here:
