a few "settings" in XP (home edition). was going to re-
install XP, but was told not to by someone....

is there a way i can restore settings? for example, my XP
tour icon won't work, and the pics for each user doesn't
worl either

Hi, Rob.

I haven't tried System Restore, but there's probably no need to install
WinXP. "Not that there's anything wrong with that", as Jerry Seinfeld would
say. Sometimes there's no other way. But usually, it's just a knee-jerk
reaction akin to the famous "using a shotgun to kill a fly". It will fix
the problem, all right, but there usually are easier - and better - ways to
fix it.

Which settings do you need to restore? The Tour can be run by clicking
Start | All Programs | Accessories | Tour Windows XP. If you like, you can
right-click on Tour Windows XP, drag it to your Desktop, and click Copy
here; this will put the icon on your Desktop.

Since nobody uses my computer but me, I don't do much with the icons for
each user. If I needed to, I would click Start | Control Panel | User
Accounts, and manage the icons from there.
