Had a strange problem with my PC today. XP Home wouldn't boot and reported
that the file \windows\config\system was either corrupt or missing and to
press r when booting from the XP CD-Rom to repair. I tried that but the
system hung at the 'Starting Windows' message when using the CD; I remember
it hanging here previously when I first installed (clean install) and fixed
it then by removeing one of my memory sticks (process of elimination). I
shut the PC down and removed one stick of memory and rebooted and it went
straight into Windows no problem. I then re-installed the memory and it
booted again no problem.
Any ideas whats going on here?
Thanks,
Andy
