XP workstation and Windows 2000 network

We have a windows 2000 network. Most workstations are also windows 2000.
Recent purchased machines have XP Home edition. After set up, some of the XP
workstations log on with no problem and some will not make the automatic
connection with shared directories with out having to re login.

We have been told to upgarde all XP home to XP Pro. Does anyone think this
will solve of problem? Any hints or things to watch out for.

As a side note: the workstations that require the re logging in show the
user as \machine name\user while the ones that work correctly show just \user
name

Thank you,

assuming you have a domain network, it is better to use XP pro. However, for the mapping, XP home should work. what you may need to do is creating batch for mapping the dirve 0n that XP home computer. For more and other information, go to http://howtonetworking.com.

Don't send e-mail or reply to me except you need consulting services. Posting on MS newsgroup will benefit all readers and you may get more help.
