XP won't boot after Vista install

Hey, guys.

I installed Vista to a separate partiton, everything went great and Vista
works very well. However, I can not get WinXP to boot. I have tried
VistaBootPro and still I can not boot to XP. I can access the files and can
see the drive just fine. On the bootscreen, WinXP is even listed as a choice
to boot to. But, when I select it, nothing happens.

Any sugesstions?

Thanks.

Take care.

You probably need to put the XP boot files on the same drive as the Vista
boot file. ntldr, ntdetect and boot.ini the boot.ini may have to be edited
to point to the partition that XP is on.

John, thank you so much!

Editing the boot.ini to the correct partiton did the trick.

I appreciate the help.

Take care,

I'm having this same issue. Where did you find the boot.ini file (my XP
install is on C and vista is on E

It would be in the root of the system drive at the time xp was installed.
Do you have ntldr and ntdetect.com? It should be on the same drive. Make
sure you have system files showing allowed in your folders properties
advanced.
