XP wireless network problem with multiple access point nearby

I remember reading about this awhile back, or at least
think I do. When an XP computer is connected to a
Wireless network with wep enabled and an network is seen
without wep it will try connecting to the new network. To
reconnect to your own network, gotta open the box and
select the correct network and click connect. This seems
to last until XP decides to switch it again. My friend is
having this problem. If we replace the wireless adapter
it seems to work for varing amounts of time, I think it
works until this outside access point's admin blocks the
mac address. I did a search for this but can't find the
KB artical, I must not be getting the right key words in
there. If info, expectally the KB ID, would be great.
