XP windows update

Does anyone know why when I try to run Windows Update, I
get an error that reads "windows update has encountered
an error and cannot display the requested page". The
error number is 0x800A138F, and I've tried all the
suggested fixes without any luck. Any help would be
greatly appreciated.

Check your system date. We had this problem and the system date was years
ahead.

I dont recall the name of the file but, When you first
used win update they ask you to download a file to your
system "the one that say's some file may be dangerous. and
asks you if you want to trust Microsoft." anyway this file
or update to you system is corrupt.
