XP will not standby

2 of my windows xp laptops will not go into standby when the lid is closed.
They worked until upgraded to xp sp2. All power settings are correct.
Updated bios and it worked once. When you open the lid it flashes the blue
scree of death and then starts windows all over again. Please help

You didn't give us much information to go on but it sounds as if you
need to contact the maker of the laptops and see if there are updates
available for the Power Options software. Laptop machines are
proprietary and usually have specific software loaded for power saving
features. Power saver software is usually what controls the closing
of the case lid - standby option.
