OK, came home today and turned on the machine with XP Pro, it would not
start up. Shut down and tried again, got message to use last known good
config, tried that, didn't start. Tried booting in safe mode, wouldn't
start. So I get out the XP CD to do a repair, no good either. Finally
resorted to a new install with reformat. It goes through the format, copies
setup files, restarts itself and then the XP install screen comes up, then
in about 5 seconds it pops up with a fatal error that will not allow setup
to continue. The error is "F:\l386\asms Incorrect function." Any ideas?
This system has been running fin for over 3 months and suddenly this. I
seem to be totally stuck with this fatal error.
