XP Welcome Screen Comment

The welcome screen, control panel's user accounts, and the run "control
userpasswords2" do not seem to be mutually WYSIWIG.

Control Panel's user accounts show me (primary administrator) and guest
(which is switched on), but does not show the .net account or the me as an
debug account.

Userpasswords2 shows all four of the above and says all users must login.

When booting the welcome screen does not show me (primary administrator) or
any of the other three accounts mentioned above, but after a few seconds XP
runs straight on into setting up all the desktop exactly as I have arranged
it over the last few weeks as Primary administrator.

Becoming stuck in the guest account setup whllst trying to get myself to
reappear in the welcome screen I started in safe mode and created a dummy
adminsirtor account. Rebooting in that to get a decent desktop I then ran
System restore to get back to yesterdays settings, which has reset
everything alright, except to show the dummy and guest accounts on the
welcome screen!

I deleted the dummy user account and the welcome screen is now is back to
it's normal zero accounts mode. I also deleted by hand the dummy account
folder set it had created on the c drive. However, for some reason if I try
to set up the dummy account again using userpassword2 it says the account
already exists and blocks it.

I think this area of XP really needs a little tidy up by MS's specialists.
Surely it would be possible to have all the accounts in a table where details
about them could be seen and altered all in one sitting, rather like in
ZoneAlarm's program control window. It could perhaps also show user's
associated documents folders so those could be easily set up and renamed at
the same time for easy identification by administrators.

PS: It is only to say that as with the same data should not be in several
places in a database, it is helpfull if users can see all the data
immediately relevant to something in one place. :) Albert.

Hi Rock!,

Weird! I Did what you said and sent in my "Wish" about the welcome screen,
etc. Guess what. This morning I switched on and the welcome screen came up
with me and guest! Maybe it sensed that I cared! But it's is what I want so
I'm not touching it again!

All the best. :) Albert.
