XP Welcome screen and bogus unread emails

I put a copy of XP Pro on my system after having to reformat the HD after an
MS Update and BootXP didn't get along. I have spent the last few days
putting applications and data files back on the now squeaky-clean HD.

One of the things I did was to go get my email using Outlook 2003, there
were 19 available. Instead of reading them, I copied the old Outlook.pst
file over the one just created.

Now, when the computer is started, my logon on the welcome screen constantly
says I have 19 unread emails. I have told Outlook to mark everything as
read even though all the emails were read. I tried importing all the emails
from the first Outlook.pst file (which I had saved to a ZIP disk) and then
"read" them all. My logon still says I have 19 unread emails.

How can I wise Outlook or the OS up to the fact that I really don't have any
unread emails? This is just kinda irksome.

Thanks,
Turner

kind of a long way around it, but create a .net passport (msn.com) fo
your email, then log on to windows/msn messenger, and it should clue i
in that you have read it al

To add to what Bill said, next time don't overwrite one .PST file with
another -- it tends to cause problems. Since .PST files can reside anywhere
you want them to, there's no need to overwrite -- just point Outlook to the
file you want to use.
