After logging in today, every program I attempt to open wants me to give the
25 digit number for purchasing windows 2003. I did not request this program
and run XP. Why is my computer asking for this info and how do I correct.

I am in class and have a paper due....HELP

There is no such program as Windows 2003.

There is a program called Microsoft Office 2003. A trial version came on
your computer. The trial was 60 days. If the trial period has expired, you
must now purchase Microsoft Office 2003 to continue using it.

But I don't want Office 2003, I want to keep XP. When the pop up comes up, I
am unable to open any word files.

You are in over your head here.

There is no Windows 2003.
There never has been any OS or program called Windows 2003.
You do not have Windows 2003 on your computer.
Microsoft does not make a product named Windows 2003.
You cannot have a product called Windows 2003, because no such thing exists.

If you are getting a pop-up asking for an activation key, it is for
Microsoft Office 2003.
The Microsoft Office that shipped with your computer was a trial version.
The trial period has expired.
Word will no longer work. Word is part of Microsoft Office, and your trial
version has expired.
Microsoft Word is not and never has been part of Windows XP.
You must purchase *MICROSOFT OFFICE* in order to continue to open Word
files.
Your windows XP is fine.
Your *TRIAL* version of Microsoft *OFFICE* has expired, and is now asking
for a code
to continue using it.

I hope this is getting through. If you do not understand the difference
between Windows XP and Microsoft Office, then there is nothing I, or anyone
else, can do.

You *DO NOT* need a code for Windows XP.
Your Windows XP is fine.

Your Microsoft OFFICE 2003 has expired. Word is a part of Microsoft Office.
Word is not included in Windows XP. You cannot enter the 25 digit key for
Windows XP to activate Microsoft Office. Microsoft Office and Windows XP
are completely different, independent programs.

I am running out of ways to try to get you to understand that you are
confused.
You must buy *MICROSOFT OFFICE 2003* if you wish to continue using it.
your *MICROSOFT WINDOWS* is okay.
