First you say you want to transfer programs, then you mention not wanting to
"reinstall every driver eg;
printer ,broadband, etc." So what exactly are you asking about? Programs
or drivers for hardware?

Firstly You cannot transfer drivers. If you're doing an upgrade install
those drivers that will work in Vista will carry over; all other drivers,
and if a clean install of Vista, all drivers have to be installed, either
from the Vista DVD or through windows update or get them from the device
manufacturer's web site and install manually.

For data and settings there is the Windows Easy Transfer utility in Vista
that will migrate data and settings.

Windows-based computer to another Windows Vista-based computer

And there is Windows Easy Transfer Companion, WETC, which is in Beta, that
is for transferring programs. It is a BETA program though, and I have seen
reports that it wasn't working very well. So use at your own risk.

You are much better off installing the programs clean. It's a new operating
system. Make sure you do some research to determine if your programs will
run in Vista.
