Question, On my Windows 2000 when I use explorer the
screen divides into two sections (drives with files and
folders on the right what's inside on the left) If you
highlight a picture (or any file) you get a little preview
(or information) on the right hand side as well without
having to open the picture. Besides putting the entire
folder into thumbnail view (which is really obnoxious) is
there any way to get that feature in XP?

Thanks
Lynn

of course its the same with XP... when you select an image the image is
shown in the sidebar on the left (common tasks). You have to turn folders
off from the toolbar.

Thanks but if you turn the folders off from the toolbar
then your folder list disappears. In 2000 you had the
folders list on the left side of the split and on the
right side you had the detail along with the file name and
info.

here is a free version of context magic, although I have not tested it
because I am on LINUX now

tell me if it works for you.

If you install a web view it will show with the folders. But web view needs to be applied folder by folder. You can use W2K's web view.

ftp://ftp.freenet.de./pub/filepilot/windows/grafik/InstantViewFreeSetup.exe
