XP very slow

My computer is running Windows XP professional. It has
Office XP, Mcafee virus program, Eudora email program and
a few other small programs. Recently, it started running
slower and slower. Today, it's so slow it took a minute
just to open a document. I'm not on the internet.
Any help will be appreciated. Thank you!
