XP uses 100% of CPU after certain installations

xp gets totaly slow after installation. there are certain
activities on the background running and cannot be
indentified. problem solves next day usualy on its own.
strange. my computer with xp is not on the internet. any
idea what is it?

Open task manager, processes tab, sort by processor usage and see what
is using all the Cpu time.
