XP 100% CPU Utilisation

Hi

I have a problem with a Packard Bell PC running XP, after installing some
software recently [SSC Service Utility] the PC started to hang on start up.
To try to rectify the problem I did a System Restore to a date before the
software installation, this appears to have removed the program installed
but the PC is still freezing up, when I opened Task Manager the cpu
utilisation is at 100%, is this likely to have been caused by the program
installed or could it be more sinister?

Has anyone any ideas how I can resolve this situation

Thanks

Nick

When you click on the "CPU" column header while in the
Task manager then all tasks are sorted by the percentage
of CPU time they consume. This makes it easy to find
the CPU hog.

When all else fails, HijackThis v2.0.2
(http://aumha.org/downloads/hijackthis.exe) is the preferred tool to use.
It will help you to both identify and remove any hijackware/spyware with
assistance from an expert. **Post your log to

If the procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting this
isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a local, reputable and
independent (i.e., not BigBoxStoreUSA) computer repair shop.
