XP used more memory before upgrade

I had 512 mb. Windows xp used about 75% (as reported from task manager) of
it. Now that I upgraded to 1024 mb, (for photo editing) windows is only
using 30%. I keep seeing posts that windows will use most of your memory. So
why is only 30% being used?

Windows XP will use exactly what it needs. It will find use for any
remaining on an as-need basis. Not to worry! For how you use the computer
you can see that you didn't NEED 1 gig of RAM. Many others do!
