XP upside down desktop screen

R

Roxy

All:

While multitasking -- doing some work on my computer and trying to answer
the telephone and write down a telephone number on a notepad -- I
accidentally pressed on the keyboard with the notepad and the computer
screen blinked and all of a sudden my screen was upside down. The mouse
moves were reversed and you can't imagine how difficult it was to maneuver
through the screen.

I don't know which keys were pressed to cause the flip of the image, so I
tried several combinations, mostly on the right side of the keyboard, where
I had pressed the notepad against. Nothing worked.

My solution, while standing and looking with my head upside down, was to go
to system restore and click on the previous day's restore point. What a
relief to see my regular screen back.

I have a Dell with XP-Home system.

What key combination could have caused that?

Thanks

Roxy

If you check the software that came with your video card you'll find out.
This is not a function performed by Windows.

Go to the DISPAY icon in the control panel, choose setting, then advanced. then the video card
(adapter) and see if there are options to correct the problem. Some video cards have this advanced
feature for monitors that can be rotated sideways. On some computers, Ctrl+Alt+arrow keys will
rotate the display. Hope this helps.

Hello Roxy,
You may have been a victim of a prank...
there are programs that flip your screen upside down....
you may want to go into your task manager (Ctrl+Alt+Del.... once ) and
look for precesses called flip.... or upside... or ryan... and turn
them off (End task)
these may be running to keep your screen flipped over.

Hi there,
I am experiencing the exact same problem with my laptop. I have tried the
'troubleshooter' for the display and nothing comes up. I have also run the
task manager and had no luck. How do you find the information regarding your
video card? Any more advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks.
