XP upgrade has deleted all previous RESTORE points - HELLLLP pleas

I accepted an upgrade from Microsoft yesterday and subsequently, MS Word gets
stuck hanging for the simplest operation. I reinstalled Word from the Office
XP disks (legally purchased) and it still hangs. I'm on the verge of doing a
complete reinstall of Windows XP. Can anyone suggest some alternative?

I upgraded to SP2, my Word2000 still worked fine.
Maybe try to uninstall and reinstall it.
