XP updates not available. Page mem problem.

I have just run Windows update on my XP equipped system. I
got the critical updates OK but when I tried to access 13
normal updates in the left column, all I get is "page
unavailable" It has been like this for over a week now.
I have tried all possible combinations of single and
double click but nothing works.
Does Microsoft have a problem? or do I?

Also, a program called HPHmon05 is gobbling up my virtual
page mem after about thirty minutes running. (2GB) I have
stopped it, and everything is back to normal but I am
darned if I know what this program does?

Any advice appreciated
