XP update

Update kb898461 keeps trying to install. I even went to MS and
downloaded the exe. does the same thing - gets almost thru install
and self cancels.

any thoughts. this is keeping a bunch of newer updates from
installing, like sp2 I think.

Hi,

Herr_Mord found that renaming c:\windows\system32\spupdsvc.exe
solved the KB898461 install problem for him:

i found that. great tip. all is 'normal' again.

this should be in the MS KB for this update.
