I have 6 Dell Dimension 3000 desktops that came with XP Home SP2
pre-installed. I need to upgrade them to XP Pro. The Pro Volume License cd
that I have is XP Pro SP1. When I try to "upgrade" I receive a message
stating that the OS on the machine is newer than what I'm trying to upgrade
too and the only option I have is to do a reinstall. I used this very same cd
and did two Compaq Presiaros with Home SP2 without a problem.

I thought I would just use add/remove progams on the Dell's and remove Home
SP2 but it's not listed so it must be a part of their image. Any suggestions
on how to do an "upgrade" on the Dell's?

All you need to do is make a SP2 slipstreamed version of your
current Windows XP Pro and then upgrade using the new CD.

Either one of the following utilities makes slipstreaming
(integrating) SP2 into Windows XP a breeze:

or

AutoStreamer 1.0.33 (preferred)
