XP Troubles

My first thought when something gose wrong with XP is to format and
reinstall. I used Partition Magic to Partition a 150Gb (G:\) No other
partition on the drive. XP would not let me change it to "C". With PM I
put XP and Office 2000 in a 25 GB Part. and the remainder in partition I
thought to call "C" thinking XP would reassign XP to C and the remainder to
D or G. When PM finished XP would not boot. I tried to reinstall XP over
XP on C but was told XP did not find any other windows version on the drive.
The only other option would be to delete the C: part and reinstall and
reactivate. I am trying to avoid this since I just did this the day before
for other reasons. Can anyone help?

P.S. PM back up disks would not work.

Thank you,

Hi John and Mary:

Yikes!! I am having trouble figuring out exactly what you have and what you
have recently done. Could you start by describing what sort of system you
have? Please be specific. How many hard drives? How many partitions on
each hard drive? Exactly what steps have you taken so far?

It sort of sounds like you have accidently set the wrong partition as
"active". *IF this is the problem, it is easily fixed by booting to the PM
bootable CD and changing the active partition back to what it was originally.
(C:?)

In the future remember that you must create new emergency floppies through
PM each time you make changes to partitions-- the old ones will no longer
work.

please post back with more info.
