XP to W7 problem...

My Acer Netbook running XP can't see my W7 laptop that has my printers
attached. All the other W7 computers in the house can see that W7 laptop
and use it's printers. What's wrong? TIA, Paul

Networking among Win 7 computers is much easier than communicating with
XP machines.
I had to install my HP printer drivers on my wife's Vista laptop in
order for her to see my printer on my XP laptop.

Can you ping the computers? If not then you have some firewall or security
software blocking them.

Open a Command Prompt (Start->Run then type in cmd)
When you get the black screen and the prompt type in "Ping 192.168.1.120" or
whatever the IP address of the computer you are trying to check. If you get
a response back you can see the computer.

To get the IP address of the other computer. Open a command prompt then type
in IPCONFIG.

It was the XP's firewall. I turned it off, was able to see the W7's
printers, connected to them, then turned the firewall back on. The printers
still work. Thank you, Random.
