XP to Vista, Windows Live Mail to Windows Mail

Is there an ease way to do this?

Are Windows Live Mail (currently running on my XP machine) and Windows Mail
(the mail client that came with Vista) the same?

From Windows Mail, I don't see an Import option for data from Windows Live
Mail.

An obvious, but painful, solution would be to set up Windows Mail with my
various email accounts and just download everything, but I was hoping to use
the message store from Windows Live Mail.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you,
Steve in Albuquerque

No, they are different.

Obviously, since Windows Mail was developed long before there was a
Windows Live Mail.

To me, the obvious solution is to install Windows Live Mail on your Vista computer.
To upgrade Windows Mail to Windows Live Mail:

Thank you, Gary, for an excellent suggestion. I did not understand that
Windows Mail was an older program than Windows Live Mail, since my new Vista
installation had WM and I've been using WLM for months now on my old XP box.

I installed WLM on the new Vista machine, it used the WLM message store I
transferred from the old machine and things are working perfectly. It took
about 15 minutes.

For anyone who is not using Windows Live Mail, it's a really nice email
client, easy to install and easy to use.

Hi, along this line - I have a WLM store in a corrupt XP install, and
I'm wondering if I can just install a fresh XP and point WLM to the old
store?

Thanks,
