XP to 2000 DC connection

I have a 2000 server and XP workstations; all of my
workstations are able to join the domain but when you log
the users in after the first time I receive a security
message sayint "A domain controller for your domain could
not be contacted. You have been logged on using cached
account information. Changes made to your profile since
you last logged on may not be available

Can anyone help with this problem

I would check the dons settings first. make sure the clients point their dns
to the correct dns.
