XP taking 30GB??

This 30Gb is taken up during formatting. You must loss
this space to be able to use the drive. my 120Gb is
really only a 111Gb after formating.

No, this has nothing to do with formatting. The difference between the 120GB you thought you were getting and the 111GB you got is because there are two different definitions of GB used. All hard drive manufacturers define a GB as 1,000,000,000 bytes. But almost everyone else in the computer field, including Windows, defines it as 1,073,741,824 bytes (2 to the 30th power). The two numbers are the same (approximately). 120 billion bytes is 111 times 1,073,741,824.

However, in his case, this doesn't account for the entire difference. He should see 150GB, not 130. I suspect that he may be misreporting the number he sees.
