XP system keyboard/standby errors

For sometime now my old keyboard has been playing up - caps lock would do a
return too.

Well anyway yesterday it seemed to go mad, was randomly repeating ' and
occasional g and h. I figured the keyboard had finaly given up the gat so
brought a new one today.

I installed it and then the PC started going in to standby mode by itself. I
have just managed to get it to stay on, by repetadly re-booting. Then the
problem with the pc doing random stuff happened again.

I was chatting on msn and at first my freinds messages were in a completly
random font, then my PC started repeatadly doing '''''''''' and sending it, I
could not type on my own keyboard and so had to use the on screen keyboard to
let my freind know what as hapening.

Then the PC started closing my MSN window and cycling between other open
programs and making them full screen etc and doing other random madness.

now it seems fine again!

Help.

Have you scanned for viruses and spyware?

yep with an up to date zone labs security suite and also with window mal
software removal tool

scan for malware, spyware, and viruses.

Adaware, AVAST4, and Spybot

would be an EXCELLENT place to start.

And once you have good anti-virus (AVAST4), good Adware
(Adaware), and good Spyware (Spybot), leave them on and
running.
