XP stops booting until I tap a key

I have an XP Pro system that will stop loading after I
type in my password until I tap a key on the keyboard.
Any ideas as to what is causing this?

Usually when you log in, you type in your password and press the "enter"
key. From your brief post, it would seem that you are forgetting to
press "enter" and the system is waiting for you. If that is not the
case, then please repost with a better description of the problem.
