XP Startup Problem

Running WinXP, and when I turn on PC, the boot system stops and asks which
operating system to load. Both are lists as Microsoft Windows XP, and the
top option loads and goes to windows. The second option prompts with a
screen that says it cannot complete the loading of the system. Well I know
it can't because it is not there, but I don't know why the second option is
listed. After 30 seconds it uses the top option and loads into Windows.

How do I rid the 2nd operating system option?

Boot into XP. From Start | Run type in msconfig. Hit ok. On the
boot.ini tab click on check all boot paths. Let it delete the one
that's not working.
