Ok, whenever I turn on my computer, i get to the blue
start u[p screen, but then my computer just stops
loading.... it wont take me to the different login
accounts, it jsut stops at the blue with the windows
logo.... but I cna still move the cursor around. does
anyone know how to fix this problem?? i have tried to
enter in safe mode and load from "the last confirmed
restart" or whatever.

Once again, any information on how to solve this will be
GREATLY appreciated!

Try doing a Repair Install:

For a step by step walk through of a
Windows XP Repair Install, including screenshots, go to:

http://www.webtree.ca/windowsxp/repair_xp.htm

When the page opens, scroll down and click on: How To Run A Repair
Install.

This happened to me when I changed the IDE bus master driver from the VIA
driver to the Standard Dual Channel driver. Turned out the Standard driver
didn't like the slave drive on the secondary IDE. So it did as you said,
just sat at the start up screen like it was loading but was so slow it would
never get past that even after a couple hours. I finally figured it out
when I saw the WinXP boot CD choke on that drive as I was trying to get to
recovery console. So I just disconnected the secondary slave drive,
restarted, XP loaded fine, I rolled the driver back to the VIA, reconnected
the drive and all was good.
