i accidentally ran an xp installation, when i didnt need one, but i cancelled
before anything started.

but now every time my comp reboots, after loading up the drives, it will go
to the menu 'choose system to start up' and gives me:
Windows XP
Windows XP Setup
with the XP setup highlighted everytime, how do i get rid of the setup being
in the menu? so it would just go straight to starting up normally? thanks!

Right click My Computer, select Properties, Advanced, Startup and Recovery. In the System startup section click the Edit button. This opens BOOT.INI for editing. Edit the default= line to point to the working XP installation. Below is a sample of a single partition, single disk installation. Your "description" will vary if you're running XP Pro or Home. If you're unsure what to edit, post the contents of BOOT.INI in a reply.

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Windows XP Media Center Edition" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect

thank you very much, and i learned something new!
