XP Sp3

I recently installed SP3 (well, ok, the RC2 'Refresh' version)

Today when I checked Windows Update ('custom' option), I discovered to
my horror that the 10 'optional' updates normally parked there which I
shun (including .NET 3.0, .Net 3.5, etc) were no longer being offered.

Is this because they are now installed with SP3, or no longer necessary?

Me Worried? Yes.

Anyone else notice this?

probably...
but since sp3 is not official yet...
I'd uninstall it and wait until it's released

As you suspect they have been incorporated within SP3 and, as such, have
been installed for you. While I know any users install the public betas I
certainly wouldn't be installing it on a machine that is used for anything
other than testing beta software. Luckily I haven't had any problems with XP
SP3 beta, but many testers have, and the last thing anyone wants is a main
machine that keeps crashing.
