xp sp3 explorer pauzes before displaying files

Maybe omeone can help me, but i am experiencing a weird problem.

When i am in the windows explorer, the right panel pauzes about 3-4sec
before showing the files. I've also noted that my taskbar sometimes hangs.
For me all this seems to point to problems to explorer.exe .

Weird tough is when using Total Commander it's extremely fast.
So it's not my hard drive.

I've also ran several different anti-spam,spy etc programs. but they didn't
detect something.
I've disabled my av to ensure this wasn't playing up, but it didn't help.

Does any one have any suggestions,

help is extremly appriciated

I suggest removing all data columns that you don't use. That can slow
things down.

I have also discovered that having certain data columns displayed in
directories that contain incompletely downloaded files can result in
Explorer freezing with 100% CPU usage, so extra, unused data columns is
asking for trouble.

I've been experimenting some more and eventualy found something.
Don't ask why, but it worked. In IE7 i disabled the livemessenger addon.
Since then everything is flying again.

Seems that IE and windows explorer are seriously mixed.
