I have attempted to get Microsoft to address this problem, and can't seem to
get their attetion...maybe a reader of these posts has a solution? Here is
the text of a message that I have already sent to Microsoft, to no avail:

Problem Description: Running Win XP Home Edition, on a Toshiba Satellite
P25-S509 laptop computer.

I downloaded the SP2 package and installed it

Now, my computer will not boot up, and I got an error message stating that
the winsrv component cannot be located. Advised to reinstall the application.

I cannot get the computer into safe mode.

I cannot get the computer into recovery console mode

I have tried everything

The XP software came preloaded on the machine, and I have the key number for
the software

Toshiba blames the problem on Microsoft
Microsoft blames it on Toshiba

I need someone to tell me how to get my machine to reboot so I can uninstall
SP 2 and get back to work

I downloaded the boot disks (6) and tried to boot with those and a copy of
Xp that I purchased as an upgrade for another computer I own (didn't work)

The computer will not boot up by changing the settings to boot with the
cd....it just keeps trying to reboot...and reboot...and reboot....etc....
each time, I see the "winsrv" error message and it reboots again until I
finally power the unit down with the power button

Toshiba tells me to use the "Recovery and Applications/Drivers DVD" that
came with the computer, and that it will format my hard drive. I really can't
afford to lose everything I have on the hard drive!

....and please don't tell me to do so and so to get to the recovery
console...I explained myself fairly well yesterday with one of your
associates "Manoj, S." and he eventually emailed me a suggested solution,
which told me how to activate the recovery console!!

Some free advice::: When it comes to DSL, Satellite service, ect, I'd stay
close to what Microsoft is involved in and find out from the "horses mouth"
if these services will work and what can one reasonably expect, Microsoft
only optimizes drivers for there operatings systems, where these companies
have paid them to do so( they debug the drivers for there software, ect),
thus I'm not plugging Microsoft, I'm simply mentioning that Microsoft
supports what they do and not what others claim ect, before investing a
capital expenditure, in High speed equipment ,, find out if its going work,
do your homework, ect, I heard of your problem before, Toshiba( is vendor),
they have personnel that have solved the problems, lest they would not be
selling it, Toshiba technical support is the best course, they can prove to
MS it works.
