Hi all,
I'm currently running RC1 and my machine is like a 3 legged
dog in treacle. It was fine before I put RC1 on. I figured
RC2 might sort things out, but I can't install it. If I
leave it on Auto Update then the shield thing on the
taskbar gets to 'downloading files 25%' and then hangs
permanently. I tried running windowsupdate and it just
hangs on the 'searching for updates' screen. I turned off
auto update completely, rebooted to clear the hung process,
and then downloaded the network install and tried to put
that on. It won't install either, it gets to 'inspecting
your current configuration' and then hangs. The progress
bar never moves, but CPU activity jumps to 100% shared
between system and update.exe. This remained the same for
14 hours overnight with no progress. I thought no problem,
I'll uninstall RC1 first but it doesn't appear in
add/remove programs.
Has anyone got any idea of how to either remove what's on
there or else get RC2 on over the top? I'd be so grateful!
I'm a sysadmin so be as technical as you like
