XP SP2 RC1

Bert Smith

Hi all

Would someone please answer my queries about RC1 for XP SP2. Thanks in
advance.
1.) Is simple file sharing turned on by default for a stand alone XP Pro
computer?
2.) Is hide file extensions for known file types also turned on by default,
as in the original release of XP?
3.) Is the Microsoft Virtual Machine (JVM) uninstalled during the
installation of RC1 for XP SP2?
Please address any replies to the news group. My email address is false.

Thanks for the quick reply. I am accessing this newsgroup with Outlook
Express through msnnews.msn.com. Although I've reset the newsgroups, the XP
SP2 beta newsgroups are still not showing up.

BTW, I just installed SP2 on my main XP Pro PC a few hours ago and I don't
have any problems. I also installed the recommended SP2 updates from
Windows Update.

Joe please follow the instructions in detail.
You need add a new news account to your OE. It is NOT that there are
newsgroup on your current news server - they are on another we host that..
This is all explained how to do this on the
http://communities.microsoft.com/newsgroups/default.asp?icp=xpsp2&slcid=us
Please just follow the detailed instructions about how to add the news serer
etc to your exiting OE.
